A Family of Four

David and I are so happy to introduce  ...

Lucas David Thompson!
Born 11/18/11
6 lbs 13 ozs, 19 inches long

Our family of four!
Big brother Jordan & Lucas
Life has changed once again in the Thompson household! We are all adjusting to being a family of four and it is an adjustment, that's for sure.  I forgot how many diapers & clothes a newborn goes through.  Lucas is (so far) a very easy baby! He sleeps a good 3-4 hours at a time during the day which I am so thankful for as it enables me to get things done around the house & spend time with Jordan.  He is rarely fussy, dislikes diaper changes (as all babies do), and tolerates his big brother as Jordan tries to 'play' with him (somewhat roughly at times, I must admit).  Lucas looks very serious & contemplative, even suspicious at times, when he is awake.  I like to imagine he's thinking "why are you making these silly and scary faces at me? I know you mean something to me, but right now I'm not sure why.  Can you leave me be? I have more important things to do, like sleeping and eating".

Jordan is enjoying the role of big brother.  It is so cute to hear him comfort Lucas when he starts to cry -- "it's okay baby!! I'm here. It's okay baby".  The hardest part is my active & loving big boy does not understand that he cannot roll over on Lucas, run his trucks over him, or grab his hands and vigorously shake them.  It has been quite a transition and a period of teaching/learning, but we're getting there :) Jordan likes to help with diaper changes as well.  By that I mean he stands there holding his nose exclaiming "Baby Lucas went poo poo! Stinky!".  So very helpful isn't he? :)

David & I are taking it one day at a time.  Some days are more challenging than others, but we wouldn't trade them for anything :)
